Bernsen is much more humorous in the sequel..THE DENTIST is an uneven, but quite effective little horror comedy that tries (and succeeds) at easy audience manipulation! The universal fear of dental pain will be amplified after just one viewing of this gorefest! Corbin Bernsen (he of L.A. LAW fame) isn't bad as Dr.Allen Feinstone, a wealthy dentist whose nympho wife is having an affair behind his back with the pool boy. He is obsessed with cleanness and despises "Decay" of all kinds, not just the molar variety, but of the human variety as well. His wife qualifies, and so do many of his obnoxious patients.

Vogt is truly living the dream. He’s a full-time dentist who owns his own practice in Indiana, but his heart will always belong to Pennsylvania. He was born in the Pittsburgh area and as a youngster, he caddied for six years at the famed Oakmont Country Club that this year is hosting its 10th US Open.He was briefly on the Butler University team before deciding to focus on school. “I’ve always been a math and science geek. So even in high school I said, ‘Let’s just go major in biology and let’s try to be a dentist.’ Seemed like a great way to work with people and have daily interactions with people and make it make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.Vogt – who says he’d be “nothing” without his Christian faith – is a true Cinderella story. And whatever the outcome this week in his home state, the story of the dentist-turned-US Open-qualifier is guaranteed to inspire. There are thousands of players up and down the country who battle soaring temperatures at the start of the American summer with the goal of completing a 36-hole qualifying marathon and are left hoping they’ve done enough to make it through to the sport’s second oldest major.

Corbin Bernsen stars as Dr. Alan Feinstone, a rich and successful Beverly Hills dentist.Movie was well made, story made sense and followed in a well made direction. It outlined the struggles that a dentist may face in life. Always cleaning teeth knowing many people care little about dental hygiene. Just delaying the inevitable as the same people who may end of losing their teeth in life and or end up getting cavities still go to dentists for regular cleaning.Obviously a dentist is unlikely to become a killer, but the concept that a dentist cleans over and over again and deals with yet more and more "filth" as the protagonist(or antagonist) calls it, can probably hit home for a lot of dentists out there. But if your sitting up toasty one night with nothing else to do and want some mindless entertainment to pass the time, give this movie a shot. You certainly won't be disappointed. ... We bought this video to "gift" it to a Dentist who we found arrogant, self-centered, nasty and who caused us to loose faith in the world of dentistry.

The answer isn't as simple as every six months. Here's what oral health experts say is the proper cadence for dentist visits.
Many older adults have dental restorations or prosthetics, which are harder to clean and maintain; less thorough cleaning increases the likelihood of gum disease. “Regular visits allow your dentist to monitor the condition of your gums, provide professional cleanings, and recommend appropriate treatments,” he says.Other more vulnerable groups include people with a history of obesity, excessive drinking and smoking—or those who haven’t gone to the dentist in a long time. “For those who have neglected oral care for many years, two visits a year are likely not enough,” she adds.A common misconception is that people with complete dentures do not need to go to the dentist, Flake says. Even if you have no natural teeth, it is still important to regularly visit a dentist for examination of the soft tissues (gums) and temporomandibular joint, and to evaluate any dentures. ... “Prevention is key in dentistry,” says Flake.Going to the dentist is essential for preventing and detecting cavities, gum disease, and other oral issues.

Dental visits can be daunting — and not just because of the whirring drills. Dentists may seem to speak another language entirely, and everything they suggest can feel important. You must have a sealant painted on your tooth or risk bacteria creating holes in it.
The first step to effectively advocating for yourself is understanding what your problems are. Ask your dentist to show you exactly where the pockets of your gums are getting deeper and letting bacteria accumulate, or which fillings are getting worn down by night grinding. Is it on the outside, which is the cheek side, or is it on the tongue side?” Visual aids like X-rays or images from an intraoral camera — or even just looking in a mirror — can also help demystify what’s going on in your mouth. Your dentist should be able to explain why particular problem areas need specific treatments, said Alyson Leffel, director of patient advocacy and social work at the NYU College of Dentistry. To get the best results and a more positive experience, experts recommend speaking up. Here are tips for what to ask and how to evaluate the treatments you are offered at the dentist.“You don’t have to get technical about it,” said Ellie Phillips, a preventive dentist based in Austin. “But I would recommend noting if it’s something affecting your front teeth or the back of your mouth.

Who’s the 34-year-old dentist playing in this week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont? One answer from Matt Vogt tells his story best.
Minutes earlier Monday, he’d practiced ahead of the proceedings that start Thursday here at big, bad Oakmont, though the track’s best known to Vogt as being a former employer and about a half-hour away from where he grew up, so that’s part of things here. But to appreciate fully what was unfolding, know that golf is his side hustle — just eight days ago, Vogt was better known as Dr. Vogt, a dentist based just outside of Indianapolis and one who, by all accounts, can fill a cavity easier than you can fill a divot.Seven years ago, he started his own practice (the Dentists at Gateway Crossing, if you’re in need of a cleaning), and business is good — one of his clients is a producer on the popular “Pat McAfee Show,” which led to a recent appearance by doc, which has led to some inquiries for a man who can advise on and flossing and putting.Who’s the dentist playing in the U.S.“I mean, thinking about it now, we should have been here every single Monday, but I’d be lying if I said we were.” Still, he said pro golf wasn’t much of a thought. For a couple years, Vogt played on the Butler University golf team, before settling into dentistry and mid-am golf life.
Matt Vogt’s dream was dentistry, not pro golf. Now he’s in the U.S. Open, staged at the Oakmont course where he grew up.
There he was Wednesday, at the driving range, side-by-side with Scottie Scheffler. The world’s best player launching bombs next to a man who quit his college golf team, enrolled in dentistry school and settled down outside of Indianapolis, occasionally competing in local amateur tournaments when he wasn’t treating patients.Sign up for the weekly newsletter ... “Maybe I didn’t dream big enough,” he said this week, “or maybe, I don’t know, I just never quite had it. I played around a lot of guys who you could tell had it and had a chance to make a shot at professional golf. It never really crossed my mind.” · Instead, he enrolled at Indiana University School of Dentistry and opened his own practice near Indianapolis in 2018.He’s not boasting about any advantages, though, noting the rough is four to five inches higher than usual. And then there’s mental grind, the TV cameras, the deep galleries and the many fans who have heard his story and, maybe for the first time in their lives, are excited to go see the dentist.Matt Vogt’s dream was dentistry, not pro golf. Now he’s playing in the U.S.
